Pioneer of Linux Use at Credit Suisse First Boston Named to OSDL Board

CSFB's ex-CIO Frank Fanzilli Is Latest Board Member

The Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) has named Frank Fanzilli, the former global CIO of Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) and an ex-IBMer, to its board.

He retired in 2002 after pioneering the use of Linux at CSFB, which deployed one of first Linux systems on Wall Street, and was on the board of PeopleSoft before Oracle acquired it.

He's also on Interwoven's board as well as the boards of privately held CommVault and nLayers. He serves as a venture advisor to VCs Allegis Capital, Focus Ventures and Partech International.

OSDL says Fanzelli brings "invaluable customer experience" to the board, which includes no end users. IBM, HP, Fujitsu, Computer Associates, Novell, Hitachi, NEC and Intel are represented on the board. The consortium has 68 identified members.

OSDL also prizes Fanelli for his understanding of "strategic technology and business relationships."

Fanzelli ran CSFB's technical infrastructure during the bank's most significant expansion and led an IT team of 4,000 people with an annual budget of $2 billion. He was also head of global applications development and a member of the bank's IT executive board.

He started at IBM, where he managed systems engineering and software development for Fortune 50 accounts.

Two serious misspellings:
1."prizes Fanelli" should be "prizes FANZILLI"

2. "Fanzelli ran CSFB's" should be "FANZILLI ran CSFB's"
